Once you have a licence, you may want to learn to fly a different type of helicopter.  Courses must be conducted with an authorised Type Rating Training Organisation (TRTO).  As a TRTO, we conduct such courses and these can often be completed in a few days and we have staff examiners available to conduct your test.

We are approved to conduct type rating conversions onto the following types of helicopter:

  • Hughes 269
  • Bell 206
  • Bolkow 105
  • AS355
  • BK117

Courses usually comprise of 3 to 5 hours of flying training, depending in your experience and other ratings held.  Generally, weather permitting; this can be achieved in a 2-3 day period.

There will also be some ground school instruction and a written exam, specific to that type.  A Type Rating Skill Test will then follow with an Examiner.
